Zebra ZD411 2-Inch Desktop Direct Thermal Label Printer 203 dpi 6 ips USB Ethernet Bluetooth LE ZD4A022-D01E00EZ
Key Features
- Prints 2.2 inches wide at up to 6 inches per second at 203 dpi.
- Direct thermal, so there is no ribbon to buy, stock or change.
- 10/100 Ethernet is fitted in the modular slot on this part number, alongside USB and USB host.
- The modular slot is occupied by that Ethernet module.
- Bluetooth Low Energy is standard, and drives Zebra's printer setup app for Android and iOS.
- 512 MB of Flash and 256 MB of DDR3 SDRAM in a printer that weighs 2.2 pounds.
- Just 8.6 by 4.5 by 6.0 inches, so it fits a counter or a shelf where a 4-inch printer will not.
- Energy Star certified and built to Energy Efficiency Level VI.
- Drop-in media loading: lift the lid, drop the roll in, close it, and the printer calibrates.
- Link-OS firmware, so the printer is configurable and updatable from Zebra's own tooling.
- Labels are sold separately, so stock can be matched to the job rather than bundled.
- Ships with the printer, an external power supply, a US power cord and a USB cable.

Which configuration this is
This part number has the 10/100 Ethernet module fitted in the modular connectivity slot. That is the entire difference between it and ZD4A022-D01M00EZ, which is the same printer with that slot left empty for roughly $80 less. Same 2-inch print engine, same 203 dpi, same 6 ips, same direct thermal mechanism, same Bluetooth Low Energy. If the printer needs a network port, this is the code to order, and buying it fitted is cheaper and simpler than buying the module separately later.
Speed and print size
At 203 dpi the ZD411 prints 2.2 inches wide at up to 6 inches per second, programmable down to 2 ips, with a maximum label length of 39 inches. That 6 ips figure is the 203 dpi number and does not carry to the 300 dpi ZD411, which is a different stem and tops out at 4 ips. This is a two-inch printer: it suits shelf labels, small product labels, specimen and wristband work, jewellery tags and anything where a 4-inch machine is simply bigger than the job. Media runs from 0.585 to 2.36 inches wide on a roll up to 5 inches in diameter.
Interfaces and Bluetooth
USB 2.0, a USB host port, Bluetooth Low Energy and 10/100 Ethernet are all present on this part number. One thing worth being precise about, because listings across the trade are not: Bluetooth Low Energy is standard on every ZD411 and is therefore not a differentiator between the two part numbers. Zebra documents that BLE as the channel for its printer setup app on Android and iOS. Whether it will accept ordinary print jobs from a phone is not something Zebra states in any document we could find, and general Bluetooth printing is the job of the optional Wi-Fi and Bluetooth radio module, which is a different part number again. Do not buy this expecting to print from a phone over Bluetooth.
Media handling
Direct thermal only: no ribbon, nothing to stock, nothing to change. Media runs 0.585 to 2.36 inches wide at 2.4 to 7.5 mil thick, on a roll up to 5 inches in diameter with a half-inch or 1-inch core as standard and 1.5, 2 or 3-inch cores via adapters. Tear bar only on this part number. Zebra offers a field-installable label dispenser that peels the liner and presents the label, a general-purpose cutter, and an attached battery base with a removable battery, but none of the three is fitted here. One note on Zebra's own tech-spec sheet: it prints the media width as 0.585 to 2.36 inches and 6.4 to 60 mm, but 0.585 inches is 14.9 mm, not 6.4, so we publish the imperial range.
Display and setup
There is no screen. Five status indicator LEDs cover network, supplies, data, pause and status, alongside power, pause, feed and cancel buttons. Setup runs from Zebra's printer setup app for Android and iOS over Bluetooth Low Energy, which is genuinely the easiest way to configure one of these, or from Link-OS tooling if you are deploying several. A Zebra Keyboard Display Unit is available as an accessory if the printer needs standalone operation. At 8.6 by 4.5 by 6.0 inches and 2.2 pounds this is a small, light machine.
What is included
In the carton: the ZD411 direct thermal printer, an external AC power supply, a United States power cord, a USB cable, a Quick Start Guide and a Regulatory Guide. Labels and media are NOT included, and Zebra's own ZD411 user guide says so in as many words. That is normal for a thermal printer and it is worth planning for, because a printer with no stock is a printer that cannot be commissioned. No Ethernet patch cable is included either, even though the network port is fitted and ready to use, so add one to the order if you do not have a spare on the bench. Tell us the label size you intend to run and we will quote the stock with it.
Where it fits
The ZD411 is the 2-inch member of Zebra's ZD400 Series, and it earns its place wherever a 4-inch printer is more machine than the label needs: retail shelf edge, small item and jewellery tagging, laboratory specimen labels, patient wristbands, asset tags and back-office filing. It is small enough to sit beside a till or on a bench shelf and light enough to move. For 4-inch shipping labels, look at the ZD621 or ZD220t instead - a 2-inch printer will not produce a standard shipping label.
For shelf edge, specimen, wristband and small-item labelling where a 4-inch printer is more machine than the job needs, the Zebra ZD411 ZD4A022-D01E00EZ is a compact and capable choice. Contact us to learn more or secure this solution for your business today.
