Years ago, back when I had less gray hair I met a girl in Salisbury, MD. It was instant and I knew she would become my partner in everything. Way back in '02 we started our little family and moved to Houston, TX or what you may know as H-Town. I started in the industry in late 2002 as a tech on an assembly line. From there I worked my way through the company and before I knew it, I was in sales. My amazing wife (she put up with a lot of crap from me over the years), so yes, I said amazing :) joined the company about a year or so after I started. We both worked our way up and in 2017; we decided to part ways. We took a month off as it was right before Christmas when we split from the company. I found work in sales, but it wasn't technical sales like I wanted.

Fast forward to January 2018 after a night of Texas BBQ and Miller Lite... We thought why not start our own wholesale POS hardware distribution company, doing exactly what we loved? I had been getting calls and emails on my personal phone wanting repairs, refurbished hardware and more. It just made sense.

March 2018, POS Nerds officially launched as a wholesale hardware provider, with years of knowledge and the drive to succeed. It wasn't until May 2018 that my partner both in life and business looked at me and said... Have you looked around at our living room? To which I replied yes, there are things everywhere. She said well yes, look at how many refurbished Verifone Vx 520's we have ready to sell, we need a salesperson... I paused and the discussion about me quitting my day job happened. You see from March to May 1st, we would refurbish and repair hardware at night while the kids went to bed and I was still working a full-time day job. talk about a scary conversation. Wanting to take the leap and start your own business, but knowing I still had bills to pay. So, I said, what are we going to do if we fail? Real hard question there... She looked at me and said well, we will just go get jobs. It was that very conversation I had with my wife that kicked my butt in gear, and I walked into my day job May 1st and resigned my position. Went back home to our living room/home office. Jumped on the phone and made a couple of calls and within the first 20 minutes of working for ourselves, I sold my first block of 100 Vx 520 refurbs. Thus, solidifying our position in the wholesale POS hardware market. 

Now here comes COVID and the passing of my mother. Remember I said our journey started in Maryland? Well, we decided to have a memorial service for my mom in Maryland as COVID restrictions were starting. We drove to Maryland, had the service, and drove back within a week. During the drive back I was pulled over for speeding in Virginia. First ticket ever and I was 39 at the time. This triggered something inside that said its time to move back east. Well, HELLO Martinsville and Henry County or as us locals call it MHC for short. We purchased a home here not knowing a single person. It is simply a beautiful area so that didn't matter to us.

Late 2020, we packed up our lives and our small mom and pop hardware supply company and moved everything to Martinsville, VA. Since relocating almost 6 years ago, our business model has adjusted as well. Not only are we a wholesale Point of Sale hardware provider we now also offer merchant services. Being in the hardware side of things, it just made sense to add the capability of setting up merchant services for other businesses.

We are focusing on all things point of sale related, from Full POS systems to just a basic countertop terminal and all things in between.
