DS2208-SR7U2100SGW is the complete USB kit for Zebra's DS2208 standard range imager in Twilight Black. It contains the DS2208-SR00007ZZWW scanner, a 7 ft (2.1 m) straight shielded USB cable with a Series A connector, Zebra part CBA-U21-S07ZBR, and the black Gooseneck Intellistand, part 20-71043-04R. Imaging and Decoding

The DS2208 is a corded area imager with a 640 x 480 sensor, a 32.8 by 24.8 degree field of view, an amber linear aimer and red illumination. Zebra's PRZM decode algorithms are built to read barcodes that are poorly printed, damaged or low in contrast. It decodes the retail 1D codes, UPC/EAN, Code 128, Code 39 and GS1 DataBar, and 2D codes including PDF417, Data Matrix, QR, Micro QR, Aztec, MaxiCode, Han Xin and postal codes. That covers shelf and product labels, loyalty cards, coupons and the 2D codes printed on shipping documents and ID cards, from one scanner at the register or workstation.

Range and Tolerance

Decode range depends on the code: Zebra rates a 13 mil UPC from 0.5 to 14.5 inches, a 20 mil QR code out to 11 inches, a 10 mil Data Matrix from 0.3 to 6.2 inches and a 5 mil Code 128 from 0.6 to 4 inches. Handheld, the scanner tolerates motion up to 5 inches per second on a 13 mil UPC; set in a stand for hands-free use, it reads items swiped past at up to 30 inches per second. Skew and pitch tolerance is 65 degrees in each direction with full rotation, so an operator can scan from almost any angle without squaring the scanner to the label.

Hands-Free Use

The Gooseneck Intellistand turns the DS2208 into a hands-free scanner at the counter. With the scanner seated in the stand, items can be swiped past at up to 30 inches per second, and the operator lifts it out for bulky items or anything that will not reach the counter. The gooseneck lets the scanner be angled toward the customer for phone-based coupons and loyalty codes, or toward the cashier. It is rated for multiple 5 ft (1.5 m) drops to concrete and 250 tumbles in a 1.5 ft tumbler, and for ESD of 15 kV air and 8 kV direct. It operates from 32 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit and 5 to 95 percent relative humidity, non-condensing, and handles ambient light up to 10,000 foot-candles. The scanner weighs 5.7 ounces and measures 6.5 by 2.6 by 3.9 inches.
